Drawing Notes:
The polar bear is facing you. He is drawn within a full circle or moon if you like. Starting at the top (inside the circle), you encounter the top of his head with the ears on both sides. The little tuff of hair inside the ears points downward to the eyes. Below the eyes are the muzzle with a distinct nose and chin. Notice the left shoulder is straight but the right side indicates the beginning of his back. He is therefore leaning more on his right leg while looking at you.
You can color between the circle and his head to make his portrait appear within the moon’s light.
Fun Facts:
Did you know that the polar bear’s fur is not really white? It is made up of hollow and transparent hairs which reflect and scatter the light so that it looks white. Underneath its fur, it has black skin.
Polar bears have a keen sense of smell, are skilled hunters, and are the biggest carnivores on land.
Their large paws help them swim and walk on snow.

This is a solid drawing of the neck, head, and antlers of a buck deer. The head is turned slightly to the right and allows the nose to be seen.
Fun Facts:
Everyone agrees that a buck is a male deer. But if you ask a dozen deer hunters to define trophy, you may get a dozen very different answers. I think author and deer hunter John Sloan says it best: “A trophy is whatever the hunter desires it to be.”
Antlers and horns are different, and members of the deer family are the only animals that have antlers.
Antlers are the fastest-growing living tissue.
