Begin at the very top of the drawing and notice how the stem curves into the top of the apple. This tells us that this apple was probably picked by hand.

This is a big, heavy, juicy apple.

Drawing Notes:

Starting at the top, you proceed down the stem with a leaf still remaining on the right side. You slide along the skin of the apple before coming to the partially eaten part. I hope someone set this down and forgot it, as the worm has came from the left, entered the front of our apple near the core, exited in the back and is leaving on the right.

I would not try to finish eating this one.

Drawing Notes:

This is a nice full apple tree in the fall just as the apples are ripe enough to eat. Starting at the bottom, follow the large trunk upwards till the first two branches divide outwards. There are still plenty of leaves so you cannot see all the other branches that would hold all the apples. Each of the four dots would be an apple that can be seen between the leaves. Notice the one apple is falling on the left side of the trunk and there are two apples already laying on the ground. You better pick them up before the deer or rabbits find and eat them tonight.

Drawing Notes:

The pie is a seven inch pie with top crust, except for the Red Delicious apple which sticks out of the center. Row 6 is the fancy curled edge of the pie, where the crusts are pinched together. This is the part you do not eat when the crust is too hard, or eat first when it is a nice flaky crust and there is ice cream to go with the pie.

This drawing differs from the original apple pie and apple pie 02 because the apple is now a solid shape and the pie crust has its own edge around the apple. This was done so that the dots could be colored continuously to form each element. The apple is colored red with the stem and the pie crust colored brown. Rows seven and eight are solid and colored a silver to form the pie pan that was used to cook the pie. The extra dots added to row 6 allow the silver pie pan to interconnect with the crust.

Compare this design to the original Apple Pie and Apple Pie 02 and let me know which one you like the best.

The pie is a seven inch pie with top crust, except for the Granny Smith apple which sticks out of the center. Row 6 is the fancy curled edge of the pie, where the crusts are pinched together. This is the part you do not eat when the crust is too hard, or eat first when it is a nice flaky crust and there is ice cream to go with the pie.

Fun facts:

Granny Smith apples tend to be the most commonly used and commonly loved apple for apple pies, though some people prefer to cut the tartness with a sweeter variety. Another very popular option for apple pies is the Golden Delicious variety, with its firm white flesh and sweet crispy flavor. It is a great all-purpose apple, meaning it works just great when baked, as it will not break down and it keeps its flavor. Bonus, with its tender skin, you can often go without peeling it!

According to Melissa Blevins for “Today I Found Out”, the early colonists of Jamestown brought European apple tree cuttings and seeds with them. The only native apple in North America was the crab apple, and the colonists found its tiny fruit “a poor substitute for Malus domestica.”

But the apple pie is not a uniquely American dish either, Upton writes. “In fact, the first recorded recipe for apple pie was written in 1381 in England, and called for figs, raisins, pears, and saffron in addition to apples,” she writes.

Drawing Notes:

The pie is a seven inch pie with top crust, except for the Red Delicious apple which sticks out of the center. Row 6 is the fancy curled edge of the pie, where the crusts are pinched together. This is the part you do not eat when the crust is too hard, or eat first when it is a nice flaky crust and there is ice cream to go with the pie.

This drawing differs from the original apple pie because the apple has a full outline and the pie crust has its own edge around the apple. This was done so that the dots could be colored continuously to form each element. The apple is colored red with the stem and the pie crust colored brown. Rows seven and eight are colored a silver to form the pie pan that was used to cook the pie.

Compare this design to the original Apple Pie and Apple Pie 03 and let me know which one you like the best.

This is a true silhouette. The only distinguishable parts are the top of the apple and the stem. While the top of the crust can be defined, there is no way to tell were the pie crust stops and the pie plate begins.

With care, I can paint the dots forming the apple red, still paint the correct dots to show the silver pie plate and have a fully covered brown crust on my pie. Or I can paint every dot black and see the same solid silhouette that you feel.
