Drawing Notes:
The angel, depicted in human form, stands upright and is looking at you. The wings are at rest and extend one row above his head. These flow downward to behind the shoulders and upper arms. Between the wings is the head, double dotted outline to represent the hair. The two single dots are the eyes; no nose or mouth is drawn. Below the upper arms, the forearms run horizontally (double dot row) and lead to the folded palms which are pointing upward. They represent praying hands. The angel wears a long robe that reaches to the floor and covers the feet.

Fun Facts:
Nutcrackers make me think of fall–walnuts, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, and black walnuts. Black walnuts had such tough shells that few nutcrckers could break the shell.
Nutcrackers also remind me of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet which is performed every December. nutcracker The story is based on a fairytale by Alexandre Dumas, who adapted a spooky fairytale written by German author E. T. A. Hoffmann.
