This haunted house is fully surrounded by the light of the full moon which is shining behind it. The house has a round window in the attic, a four square window on the second floor and two slanted windows on each side of the door on the first floor. Pretend that the rest of the house does not exist and you will see the moonlight shining thru all the windows just like in a movie shot.

What makes a house haunted? Our house has the first roof peak off to the right. This is the roof dormer. The right outer edge has a slight lean as it goes down to the main roof peak. This roof line extends all the way up to the peak on the left side of the drawing then back down the left side to the same row.

Below the main roof are two side additions to the house. You can add a leaning door and crooked windows like our haunted house 02 if you wish, otherwise this is a silhouette.

Drawing Notes:

Our ghost is facing you with his arms out wide to the sides. The eyes and mouth are slightly distorted, like the ghost is blown by a breeze. We believe he is a “friendly” ghost because he has a smile on his face. Perhaps he wants to be like “Casper”, the friendly ghost that appeared on TV in five different shows between 1959 and 2012.

The word ghost originates from the Old Germanic word gaistaz, meaning soul or spirit. It also shares a root with the word gasp.

Ghost stories have touched everyone in some way and that’s why ghosts are universal.

Not all ghosts are intent on showing up out of nowhere and scaring the living daylights out of us. There are indeed many examples of good ghosts.

Ghosts have been credited for saving people from accidents, delivering important messages, and emanating an overwhelming feeling of peace and love.

Phasmophobia is the official term for a fear of ghosts. This phobia can also be linked with the fear of the dark.

When finished, turn the page clockwise a quarter turn and our witch is flying to the left. She is sitting on her broom with her pointed hat bending backwards in the breeze. Her cape is blowing out behind her and looks striped due to the many folds in the fabric. She is wearing big heavy boots that show just below her skirt. The back of the broom reminds me of the old time straw brooms that were tied onto a stick before they started using a wire wrap and trimming the top of the straw.

This small pumpkin takes 7 lines down, 12 spaces across. It has a stem on top, two eyes, a nose, a smiling mouth with teeth, and it requires a little skill in spacing in order to look correctly proportioned.

I removed 9 cells from each row to create a symmetrical pumpkin. I believe this is the intended drawing style. I also moved the nose down one row. This pumpkin now appears to be narrow and tall. I also used Marie’s optional row 15 to see what was intended with the change to the mouth.

Fun Fact:

In the United States, people carve faces into pumpkins for Halloween and call them Jack-o’-lanterns. Sometimes, they put lights inside the pumpkin to show off its face.

Drawing Notes:

The apple has smooth areas for the eyes, nose, and mouth that you can color. The mouth is the lower three areas that look like running ooze. I think of the apple as a lime green with blood red eyes, nose, and mouth, however my favorite poison apple is purple with glow in the dark red in the smooth areas.
