Drawing Notes:
The helicopter is facing left. This was the prototype of the Bell helicopter company. First you have the main propellers, these are longer than any of the other helicopters. Starting from the left, there is the outline of the plastic bubble with just the pilot’s seat shown. Behind that seat is the housing for the motor that powers both propellers. Between the motor and the rear propeller was just a framework of metal strong enough to withstand the torque created by that rear propeller.
Below the helicopter, I drew an enlargement of the framework to show how open it was with just crossbars for stability.

End design.
Drawing Notes:
This is a drawing of a CH-47 helicopter known as the Chinook. This one has standard tandem-rotor configuration. The rear rotor in row 1 is higher than the front rotor shown in row 2. Under the rear rotor in row 3 is the long tube of the jet engines, one on each side, that provide the power. This drawing has the windows along the side as if used for troop transport.
Fun Facts:
The first Chinook was built in 1961 as a heavy-lift (27,700 pounds) aircraft. The easy access full width ramp at the rear made it a useful equipment carrier.

Helicopter02 – Chinook Solid

Row 1: colon [25] six times, full cell, colon [25] six times.
Row 2: space 3 times, WITH [23456], full cell 5 times, OF [12356], space 5 times, colon [25] seven times, full cell, colon [25] seven times.

Row 6: space 8 times, dot 5, full cell, dot 2, space 11 times, dot 5, full cell, dot 2.
End design.
Drawing Notes:
This is a drawing of a CH-47 helicopter known as the Chinook. This is facing to the left. Row one has the rear rotors. The rear rotor was not always higher than the front rotor in newer models. The jet engine housings protrude from the rear and are shown as the open tube. This drawing has the windows along the side as if used for troop transport.
Fun Facts:
The first Chinook was built in 1961. Although there are many configurations of this helicopter, they are around 18 feet tall, over 50 feet long, slightly wider than 12 feet and each rotor may be up to 60 feet in diameter.

Helicopter03 – Bell
By: Richard Hinkle
Design is 8 rows, 30 cells.
Note: Full size picture is the last full page of this document.
Begin design:
Row 1: dot 4, M [134], dot 5, dot 6, space 10 times, colon [25] six times, full cell, colon [25] six times.
Row 2: space 1 time, dot 4, dot 3, dot 4, dot 3, space 14 times, WAS [356], G [1245], HIS [236].
Row 3: space 2 times, S [234], space 1 time, dot 4, colon [25] thirteen times, F [124], A [1], space 1 time, dot 4, D [145], colon [25], dots 256, dot 2, dot 3.
Row 4: space 2 times, AR [345], space 1 time, dots 456, C [14], colon [25] three times, hyphen [36] five times, dot 3, space 9 times, dots 456, space 2 times, dot 4, dot 3.
Row 5: space 2 times, C [14] three times, space 9 times, L [123], space 9 times, dots 456, hyphen [36] four times, dots 23.
Row 6: space 14 times, GH [126], space 11 times, hyphen [36] three times, B [12].
Row 7: space 15 times, dot 4, colon [25] two times, G [1245], colon [25] five times, G [1245], colon [25], H [125], colon [25], I [24].
Row 8: space 14 times, dot 4, EN [26], hyphen [36] two times, full cell, hyphen [36] five times, full cell, hyphen [36] two times, IN [35], A [1].
End design.
Drawing Notes:
Start at the top left, follow the left side of the rear wing down. Did you notice the slight bump at row 3? This is the outer frame holding the rear stabilizer rotor. Starting at the top right, row 1 is the main rotor. Below that is the plastic bubble cockpit which distinguishes this as a helicopter made by the Bell manufacturing company. This unit also has a clear foot panel for seeing what is under you. Our unit is equipped only with skids as it takes off and lands vertically.
Fun Fact:
The first Bell 47 helicopter was a plastic bubble for the cockpit; a motor mounted behind it on a frame and just enough framework to support the rear rotor. The plastic bubble is what distinguishes these helicopters today.

End design.
Drawing Notes:
This helicopter is facing left on the page. It is a different model than the others distinguished by the enclosed circle for the tail rotor housing and rear stabilizer. Although I drew the top rotor only 6 cells long on each side, you could extend them to nine cells and be just as correct.

Drawing Notes:
This helicopter is facing right on the page. This model has the longer main rotor length and a heavier rear stabilizer housing. This model comes with a larger engine and has a higher lift payload than previous models.

Drawing Notes:
This helicopter is facing left and has a medium length main rotor. The stabilizer housing and rear wing is slightly different. I left the body open so you can put your own logo on the side or show the interior.
