Drawing Notes:
The scales are made of brass with a small baseplate for support. The center post is round with a fancy knob on top. Both hanging cups must be perfectly matched in weight to allow the scales to work correctly. The balance arm is also carefully made to weight the same on both sides of the pivot point.

Drawing Notes:
This is a side view of a gavel that a judge might use in court. I picture it as being decorative. I see the body being made from a light colored wood with the ends being a dark wood. The two stripes and handle would be the same dark wood. This gavel has a rubber handle to make it easy to hold. The strike plate under the gavel would be a hard wood to protect the desk from being dented each time the gavel is used to bring order to the court.

Drawing Notes:
This is an outline of a hardback book laying open on a book stand. It is a thick book, that is why the upper edge shows the pages rounded as it lays open. The book stand is the last row of the drawing as that is the only part that would be visible, the slight edge that keeps the book from sliding off as the stand has a slope to hold the book up to make it easier to read.
Most blind people I know read the braille books flat or slightly sloped downward towards the top.
