Drawing notes:
The bass clef looks like a backwards C with a large dot at the top of the letter. The two dots to the right are the placeholders for the symbol. When the F3 string is placed between these two dots and it is located on the fourth line of the staff, then this is a Bass Clef drawn in the correct location.
The drawing is the symbol known as the F clef; it places F3 on the line that is drawn between the two dots to the right of the symbol. Today, this clef is best known as the Bass Clef and is used to place the F3 note on the fourth line of the musical staff.
To visualize this on the music page, place line 5 in dots 14 of row 1, this is A3.
The center of our bass clef is a line drawn thru dots 25 of row 5, this is F3.
Line 3 would then be dots 36 of row 9, designated as D3 on the staff.

Fun Facts:
In the beginning, the staff had four lines with the F line being colored red, and the C line colored yellow.
Guido, a monk in the eleventh century is said to have invented the music notation that led to what we use today.
Today the staff has five lines. Shorter lines can be added to show lower (below the staff) or higher (above the staff) notes. The spaces between the lines also represent notes.

Drawing Notes:
The full width lines indicate the five lines that draw a staff. We used drawings of half notes and placed them going up the staff.
If we put our bass clef at the left end of the staff, our lines would be for notes G, B, D, F, A, starting with second octave G if we are writing piano music.
If we wanted to play that second octave F, we would place it right below the bottom line of the staff.
And if we needed the second octave E, we would add a short horizontal line to hold our note symbol.
