Drawing Notes:
The otter sits facing you like a stuffed animal does. Starting at the top you encounter the two round eyes. To both sides, notice the close-cropped ears with fur on the inside. Next comes the nose which is smooth, shiny and wet just like a dog. To each side of the nose and extending down to below the mouth are those tickling fine haired whiskers. Next is the wide curved mouth and chin to finish off the head.
Below the chin is the front paws shown with long claws. Below them are the rear feet shown with short stubby claws.
Fun Facts:
Otters can use tools. They use rocks to break open the shells of fish they want to eat such as clams and mollusks.
The US is home to two of the thirteen species of otters–the sea otter and the North American river otter.
Sea otters are related to weasels.
Sea otters have the thickest fur of all mammals.

The walrus is sitting facing left. His nose and eyebrows protrude at the top. He has two large tusks extending down and to the left side of the drawing. The upper portion of the tusks are covered by his whiskers which makes them feel like one near the mouth. He has large feeling front flippers and smaller back flippers. I originally drew lines to indicate his rolls of fat but they made him look stripped like a zebra so I removed them.

Fun Facts:
Dolphins are mammals and considered highly intelligent. The smallest are the New Zealand Dolphin at 4.5 ft. (140 cm). Our drawing most looks like the bottlenose dolphin which has the more rounded snout. They can grow between ten to fourteen feet long. They can live up to fifty years in the wild.

Fun Facts About Whales
The blue whale can grow to more than ninety feet long and weigh as much as twenty-four elephants!
Beluga whales are called the canaries of the sea because of their whistles, chirps, and clicks.
Male humpback whales are singers.
Bowhead whales can live a very long time–perhaps for two hundred years.
The smallest known whale in the world is the dwarf sperm whale.
Humpbacks and blue whales have no teeth!
They are baleen whales and eat plankton, crustaceans, and krill.
