Drawing Notes:

The color wheel is divided into six areas, or slices, like a small pizza. Starting at the top and progressing clockwise, the first divide is at 2:00, the second divide is at 4:00, the next divide is at the 6:00, the fifth divide is at 8:00 and the last divide is at 10:00.

The primary color “Red” belongs between 12:00 and 2:00. A secondary color called “Orange” fits between 2:00 and 4:00. Another primary color “Yellow” goes in the slice between 4:00 and 6:00. This is followed by the secondary color “Green” between 6:00 and 8:00. The final primary color “Blue” goes between 8:00 and 10:00. The final secondary color “Purple” goes between 10:00 and 12:00.

Drawing Notes:

The sewing machine is facing to the left which is the way I have noticed most right-handed sewers tend to use them. The spool of thread is on the top, right side of the machine. Follow the wavy thread as it goes left, thru the holder on the top of the machine and down the face until it enters the needle.

At the right side is the spinning wheel used by some to get the motor started at a slower speed. I think these were left from the days of the spindle machines that had a belt driving this wheel. Today’s machines may not have this item or a small version only.

Proceeding left from the center of the wheel, you encounter the control knob, the circular feeling item within the body, the next line is just an indicator of were the body changes shape. Continuing to the left, you encounter the next shape change as you come to the head of the machine. Go down the page from here and you end up at the needle with the thread. I decorated the base with the two extra lines.

Drawing Notes:

A simple spool of thread depicted by rows of colons to indicate each wrap thread. This is a heavy thread as not many wraps fit on the spool. A large eye needle is to the right.

Drawing Notes:

A simple spool of thread depicted by rows of Xs to indicate each wrap. A small eye needle is to the right. Your standard thread will often come in a medium 40 or 50 weight. But a huge variety of other threads exist in super fine 100 weight, or super chunky 3 weight options too.

Drawing Notes:

A simple spool of thread depicted by rows of colons to indicate each wrap. A large eye needle is to the right. This spool has been used and tied off by the user on the upper end of the spool although the thread has ended at the bottom of the spool.

Drawing Notes:

The quilt has four distinct block patterns. They are arranged in diagonal rows to form the larger pattern of the quilt.

Fun Facts:

You might think of a quilt as a cloth sandwich. The top layer is usually decorative, the middle layer is filler such as wool or cotton, and the bottom layer is usually solid fabric.
Traditionally, the three layers were stitched together by hand, but now many quilts are sewn by machine.
