Drawing Notes:
The bell is drawn with the hanger on the top but not the large metal rod and support brackets that would hold it in place and allow it to swing. The clapper extends below the bell when at rest, this allows for the proper length when swung to hit the sides at the proper location. Notice the long crack that has developed from use.
Fun fact:
The last time the liberty bell rang its last clear note was to commemorate George Washington’s birthday on February 22, 1846.

The flag is flying straight out from the pole that is located on the left side of the drawing. The seven red stripes are the full cell rows and the six white stripes are the hollow lines in between. There are 50 stars within the square blue field in the upper left corner of this flag. The drawing is not true to the dimensions of an actual flag but conveys the design elements.

Fun Facts:
The original bell was ordered from London. It arrived in Philadelphia in August 1752. The bell was mounted on a stand to test the sound, and at the first strike of the clapper, the bell’s rim cracked.
The bell was broken into pieces and recast twice more before it was accepted by the city of Philadelphia. It is uncertain how this third bell came to be cracked; the damage occurring sometime between 1817 and 1846.

Drawing Notes:
This drawing depicts a 555-foot marble obelisk that is known as the Washington Monument. This is why the eight foot high windows shown near the top are only one dot tall. The top floor is not as large as the base floor but there is no good way to draw the taper that should be part of the drawing.
Fun Facts
It took forty years to build the Washington Monument.
The stones are held in place by gravity and friction.
