Our woodpecker is perched on the side of a tree. There is room left on the right side of the page for you to draw the tree. The upper claws are curving downward to the right for a good grasp, the lowest claw curved upwards to securely grasp the branches.

Fun Facts:
Pileated Woodpeckers are mainly black with a red crest, and have a white line down the sides of the throat. They show white on the wings in flight. Adult males have a red line from the bill to the throat; in adult females these are black. It is one of the largest woodpeckers in the world, with a wingspan of up to 29.5 inches.
